Post-HIMSS 2025 Reflections
After an inspiring week of conversations, keynotes, and innovations, here are some key takeaways and emerging trends from our team:
- AI Everywhere: Nearly half of the exhibitors showcased AI-driven solutions — from clinical decision support to predictive analytics. However, concerns remain around data accuracy and the responsible deployment of these technologies.
- Interoperability Progress: FHIR R4 is now widely adopted, and early discussions suggest many may leapfrog R5 in favor of R6. Despite advances, seamless data exchange remains a challenge, with long-standing barriers still needing to be addressed.
- Cybersecurity in Focus: A dedicated cybersecurity hall underscored the sector’s urgent focus on strengthening health data protections through zero-trust models and privacy-preserving technologies.
- Whole-Person Consent Gains Traction: Conversations at the event highlighted the growing need for scalable consent solutions, particularly in sensitive areas such as substance use disorder treatment and women’s reproductive health.
